let's have a crisp...

...and forget all our troubles.

Zoe on call today, New Years Eve. Had a really good day with Enzo. Had three solids meals and two 90 minutes naps, and then went to sleep without much trouble. Pretty much in a great mood all day.

We mostly hung out at the house today, playing with toys and dogs. Read a lot of books, watched some football, and played in both swings. Our big event of the day was a long walk down to the stables to watch the horses trot around and jump. Also a little gray cat there that Enzo couldn't stop looking at. Teething biscuit made the walk all the way home more fun.

Milestones: For the first time, Enzo spent the entire day without a bib. Only two little vomits late in the day after guzzling a bunch of milk, and before he got his afternoon meds. Only a few weeks left until the magic nine month mark when his reflux is supposed to resolve.

After kind of a quiet day yesterday, Enzo was talking all day today — ba ba ba ba ba ba.

returns

Fun day with Enzer just running errands. We took him to Whole Foods, and then came back to cook him some veggies we bought. Had a big breakfast and lunch, and then took a rare long weekend nap for us.

Bombed around Old Pas returning some presents, then over on Lake. Enzo was just so cute and happy all day — clapping and laughing and eating everything in sight.

I put him to sleep with no problem. He's kind of restless right now, rolling around a lot. He woke up last night at 2:30 and cried for about 30 seconds before putting himself back to sleep. Hope he sleeps soundly tonight.

Nothing too special about today. Another nice morning. Enzo hung out in the swing while I threw the ball for the dogs before taking them to day camp. Enzo was in a great mood tonight, laughing, clapping, and eating like crazy — tofu and beans & rice, plus sweet potatoes and carrots.

Nanny Note: We read books, played on the swing, visited with grandma Jean. Watched Seasame Street. Played with toys, walked to the park to play on the swing.

Zoe went to the valley to Deb's party and to pick up dinner while I put Enzo to sleep. I'm not as good at that as I used to be, but he finally gave up and fell asleep after one failed attempt.

sushi

Nice morning with Enzo today. He ate a big breakfast again of yogurt and bananas. I think his good mood the last couple days is related to his new breakfast regime.

Family outing for sushi tonight to our favorite family place, Matsuri. Enzo ate a lot of food - tofu, gyoza, tuna, potato dumpling thing and some carrots. The waitresses were amazed. They came out to look at him, "he's eating gyoza too", "big eyes", "so cute".

Nanny Note: We went for a walk, played with toys, played with bubbles and the new swing. We played with the dogs out back and watched Sesame Street. Enzo was in a great mood all day!

Really sweet bug tonight, rolling around after his bath, and playing catch. Zoe put him down with no problem. Another long night of sleep ahead.

yogurt

Ten hours of sleep last night as per usual. Enzo had a big breakfast of yogurt and bananas this morning which seemed to put him a good mood for the rest of the day. Going to give him an early sit down breakfast from now on I think. He had a massive dinner tonight. He's up to 18 lbs and 15 oz, about 40th percentile.

Milestones: Top two teeth are really coming in now, but don't seem to be bothering him much.

Nanny Note: We played with toys, went for a walk, played with bubbles, read The Napping House, Brown Bear & Goodnight Moon. Enzo has been in a great mood. I felt his top teeth today. Yeah! After nap we played with toys. We read Pat thr Bunny, Ollie and the Baby Book and Little Miss Muffet.

Enzo to bed a little late today. He woke up when we put him down for the night, and I couldn't get him back to sleep. Zoe took over after he was up for a bit, and was able to put him to sleep after hanging out with him for about an hour.

swinger

Last night was tough. Enzo finally got back to sleep around 1:AM, but only because Zoe let him sleep on her chest. She finally put him back in the crib around 3:AM, and he slept until 6:30AM.

I was off today, but had the nanny come so I could get some work done around the house. Other than cleaning the garage and the gutters, my big accomplishment for the day was finally getting Enzo's swing set up on a tree branch in the backyard. He loves it. I can sit next to him and throw the ball for the dogs, giving him an occasional push.

Milestones: Enzo got himself from a crawling position to sitting for the first time.

Nanny Note: We played with toys, went for a walk, read some books, and played in the bouncy swing

Sent the nanny home about 3:30PM and hung out with the man for the rest of the afternoon. Zoe got home a little early and cooked meatballs for Enzo. He loved them. Went to sleep right at 8:PM and not a peep since.

christmas morning

Just finally got Enzo down for a nippy nap. He's been up for 5 hours, since 6:15. We had a good morning of playing with the pups and jumping in the bungee swing out front. Zoe back from call, and starting to work on dinner already.

Enzo opened the few remaining gifts that we didn't already open. Got some good pictures of him eating wrapping paper, and playing with big rabbit from Mimi.

No special plans today, just hanging around. Walk later. Sylvia and Jeff coming over for dinner tonight.

Enzo got about 30 minutes of sleep all day, so we put him to bed at 6:45. He woke up about midnight, and couldn't be put back down. Zoe slept on the rocker with him for a few hours before putting him back in the crib. He seems really needy and clingy the last few days, and doesn't want us to be out of his sight.

zoe on call

Zoe on call today, Christmas Eve.

Enzo was super cranky this morning, which made me nervous knowing I had him all day. Driving across town to pick up a Yule Log didn't help. Major meltdown. When we got home, I tried to put him down for a nap, but he cried when I put him in the crib. After several attempts, I let him sleep on my chest. And he slept for 2.5 hours, while I watched football with no sound.

Then we went out to Bristol Farm, another meltdown, and another nap on my chest. For another 90 minutes. I think wiped out from no sleep yesterday. Great dinner at 5:30 of beans, potatoes, and some winter squash.

December 23, 2006

grocery shopping

Big event of the day was a trip to Whole Foods to finish up our shopping. Enzo was great in the store. Later in the day we went to Silver Lake for lunch at Gingergrass. As per usual, I ate my lunch in 5 minutes and then took Enzo while Zoe ate her cold lunch.

Enzo only got about 50 minutes of sleep all day today, which is typical on the weekends. We can never seem to get him a proper nap on the weekends.

December 22, 2006

eh, enzo

Zoe was post-call today, so home early to after running some errands. I was home early from work today too. Hung with Enzo and played with new Christmas toys that somehow were opened a little early. Katie dropped by with Gabe to drop off some presents for Enzo and puppies.

Nanny Note: We played with toys, read books, took a walk, and watched Sesame Street

Enzo crawling around a lot now. Also started clapping a day or two ago. His favorite new toy is the Beach Band thing. A little tough to put to sleep tonight, woke up after just a minute or two.

December 21, 2006

silly?

Zoe on call tonight, and it is a bad one. Enzo might have been in great mood for the nanny, but was a cranky pants tonight for me. Didn't eat much, and was just generally seemed annoyed with me. I think he misses his mom. Had a quick dinner, a quick bath, and then pretty much straight to bed.

Milestones: Enzo can pretty much stand up on is own now while holding on to something. He really get excited and seems really pleased with himself when you give him the opportunity to stand on his own. Favorite spots for standing are against the back of the couch, holding on to new coffee table, and headrest of bed.

Nanny Note: We went for a walk, played with toys, watched Sesame Street. We went for another walk. Enzo was not very interested in eating today. He had a lot of energy though and was very silly

One of his favorite things to do now is stand on the bed while holding on to the head rest, and biting the metal bars. Then he likes to just let go and fall on to the pillows.
