dog beach
Later we all made a trek to Dog Beach, about an hour away. Harriet and Betty and Enzo all had a great time, but when we spied several dogs taking giant poops while their owners conveniently were looking out at the ocean, we decided it was time to leave. It would be just like Enzo to toddle over to one of those land mines and try to scoop it up into his bucket. We managed to keep him awake on the ride home so he would take a proper nap in his crib.
After nap, we ran some errands and hung out in the front yard. Daddy rearranged a flower bed and laid a bunch of soft woodchips and put the picnic table over it so that Enzo would have a nice spot to eat his lunch with Alex.
Enzo was very good today about consistently signing "more" whenever he was eating something he wanted more of. He is getting better and better every day with his communication skills - really amazing to see that develop. His big trick today was when Ralph was looking at a picture book of animals with him - he pointed to a picture of a gorilla, then started thumping his chest. We taught him to "thump his chest like a gorilla" a while ago (a line out of an Eric Carle book) - up until now we had no idea that he actually knew what the hell he was doing. Clever kid.
Afterwards it was a usual lazy Sunday afternoon - mommy made dinner, we had some front yard hijinks, then dinner. We had a nice family walk where we ran into another kid in the neighborhood who is 3 or 4 days older than Enzo but literally half his size. A fun bath, then books, then off a to an early bedtime.
