Wes and Christa came over first thing for waffles. Enzo once again didn't eat much, but he was happy to have guests. We then took the dogs to day care because we thought we were getting sod put in the backyard today. At the pet store, Enzo ran all over, looking at birds, fish, and chinchillas. We also picked up a couple Halloween costumes for the dogs. Both too small though.
We headed across town to the farmers market in Studio City. Enzo fell asleep on the way over for about 30 minutes (his only nap of the day). It was warm and sunny in the valley, but Enzo refused to keep the shade up on the stroller. We picked up some fruit and some kettle corn, and then stopped in Starbucks for a coffee. Enzo munched on various dried snacks on the way home.
Milestones: Enzo has so many words now, we're starting to lose track. Here's a few more - helicopter ("hoppter"), parts (as in Parts, More Parts, and Even More Parts by Ted Arnold), i don't know ("idunno"), cheese, hippo, mouse, help, please, uh-oh, owie (as in boo boo), pop (short for popsicle), and hat.
Back at the house, we played out in the front yard and walked up and down the sidewalk trespassing in some of our neighbors yards. Enzo loves nothing more than walking up and down a steep grassy hill. He also walked around pointing out house numbers, a game he plays with Alex.
The sod guys never came, so instead we bought the Patriot-Dallas game on pay-per-view, and had some friends over. Scott, a die hard Dallas fan was first to arrive, followed by our neighbors and their two and half year old son Jack. Around halftime, Katie showed up with Gabe and Luke. Enzo had the best time running around with all the boys - playing in the front yard and with trains mainly. Everyone enjoyed Zoe's awesome chili. Unfortunately Dallas got whipped, but fun nonetheless.
After our guests left, we went for walk with the dogs to feed the ducks. There were a ton of mallards, a few coots, and a small group of Canada geese also. The big white mutant duck snatched some bread right out of Enzo's hand, which got him pretty excited. Poor Enzo got very upset when it was time to say bye bye to the ducks.
We stopped by to say hi to Wes on the way home. We could only stay for a few minutes because Enzo hadn't eaten yet, and poor little Wes got really upset when we left. Back home, Zoe fixed a late dinner of rice and chili, which Enzo really liked. Mommy did the old airplane spoon into the hanger trick to get some food in Enzo's mouth. He really got into Zoe's sound effects.
We took a very long bath tonight followed by many many books read by Zoe, a bottle and some teeth brushing. Daddy broke routine tonight and fiddled around with the damn monitor plug, which he'd cleverly unplugged, after he'd put Enzo in the crib. Enzo got really upset that he was in the crib and the light was still on and that I was in the room, and he just wouldn't stop crying after we walked out of his bedroom. I tried going back in to comfort him, which worked for a few minutes, but the second I made a move to put him back in the crib, he started crying again.
Zoe came in to rescue Enzo and took him downstairs. She read him a few more books, and we played with his train for another hour before he was ready for sleep. He protested for a second or two when I finally got him back in the crib, but was sound asleep before I got down the stairs.
