behind closed doors

Enzo and I took the dogs for a walk before heading out to breakfast at Cindy's. We had the usual. I asked for the side of peaches right away to keep Enzo occupied before his pancakes arrived. Then I got worried after he ate three huge peach wedges, and was asking for more. Our pancakes arrived just in time. When the waitress put the plate on the table, Enzo said loudly — "HOT!", which made the guys at the next table laugh. He ate a big meal. We stopped by the store on the way home to get more milk.

Nanny Note: We played outside and with the train set. We read books in his room and played with playdough. Enzo had a small snack then we played outside again. We watched Where The Wild Things Are and had some snack again. We read books for a while before nap. He fell asleep within minutes today. I think he was very tired. We played at Amy's for a while after nap.

After my meeting downtown and running some errands, I came home to find Enzo and Alex playing in his room. I tried to sneak past his door on the way to the upstairs office, but he spotted me. I said Hi and then went into the office and closed the door. Mistake. From inside the room, I heard him walk over, try the door handle, and then sit down and start crying. Ugh. So Alex got to go home an hour early.

After taking the dogs for another walk, we watched some of his new Scholastic DVD, There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. He liked that one. We then walked up to see Wes and eat pasta and meatballs. Enzo did great again — big meal and pretty mellow in his chair. He also made a huge mess. After dinner, Wes and Enzo danced around the living room to the Amy Winehouse song, Rehab. Nice Eric. Well Wes danced. Enzo just spun around and around and around until he fell down. Multiple times.

Back home, we took a nice bath and wallowed around in his room — reading books, playing with puzzles, and generally goofing around. The dogs came in to play right before bed. Enzo hasn't quite got the concept of "gentle", and likes to poke eyes, grab ears, and squeeze handfuls of skin. The dogs seem very understanding, and don't hesitate to give him big kisses, which he thinks is great.
