goop

Mommy and Enzo had their morning snuggle, and then a poop in the potty. As Zoe flushed the poop down the toilet, Enzo stood looking over the rim and said "bye bye!". I took him and the dogs for a walk around the block. Enzo returned to a very nice breakfast of soft boiled eggs, toast and an orange. He did pretty well with it. He likes to dip and bite the toast.

Nanny Note: We read books, explored the neighborhood and watched cars and trucks go by. Enzo likes these kinds of open ended, non-structured activities, they give him the control to choose where he goes and how long the activity lasts. He is picking up new words everyday. We are going to start introducing new words with activities like art and science. We watched WTWA and then went to Lakeshore. After nap we played with Goop (cornstarch & water) and playdough, then we went to Gymboree.

Zoe on call again tonight, so Enzo and I went out to Panorama City to visit her and eat Thai takeout. When we got up onto the freeway, we could see that the sky all over LA is filled with smoke in every direction. The sun shining through casts an eerie orange light, like sunset all day long.

As we walked through the hallway of the hospital, Enzo said "ma ma ma". He was happy to see her, and gave her a kiss. All the nurses went on and on about how cute he is, which he loved. Waved and said "hi" to everyone. We sat in Zoe's call room and ate dinner and watched some of the World Series. Enzo was in a funny mood — flopping around on the bed, doing headstands, screeching, and giggling. Zoe took him for a couple walks up and down the hall, and then we had to leave. Enzo said "bye bye"as the elevator door closed. And when the door opened again on a different floor, he said "ma ma" and looked down the hall.

He got a little upset on the way home, was getting tired. We hit some traffic, but he hung in there. We took a very quick, very shallow bath. And then we drank milk and read books. We spend about 15 minutes looking at the big Zoo-ology book, and about 10 minutes of that staring at the fish page. He wouldn't let me turn the page.

Just before 8:PM, he put his head down in his blanket so I picked him up, gave him a kiss, told him I loved him, and put him in the crib. He must have fallen asleep right where I put him down because I didn't hear a single peep from him on the monitor.
