We got ourselves together and headed out to Peets for coffee and breakfast. Enzo actually did pretty well with breakfast despite having no stroller or highchair to sit in. He stood in his chair backward watching dogs and people go by as I stuffed food in his mouth. We ran around Peets a bit and then bought some milk and a smoothie at the grocery store next door.
We drove back home to drop off the milk and fill up Enzo's bottle, and then we went to the park up the street. We started in the swing, which Enzo loved. More, more, more, he demanded. Enzo and I also played on the jungle gym with a boy about 5 years old whose parents were standing in the corner of park arguing and ignoring him. Enzo gave him a hearty "bye bye" when we left.
We were about half way to school when Zoe called saying she'd be late to school and didn't have time to stop by the house first. So Enzo and I made a U-turn and went back home again to get the things he needed for class. He fell asleep on the way back, and stayed asleep until Zoe showed up at school about 30 minutes later.
He had a great day at school. Despite the fact that Zoe scrambled straight from a loooong 26 hour shift without brushing her teeth or changing, Enzo was happy to see her and was in a chipper mood the entire time. He even ate his snack. He was the only boy in class and seemed to like being surrounded by the ladies. He also liked all the closing songs and even asked for "more". He has the unfortunate habit of looking for acorns and stuffing them in his mouth. Zoe had a pocketful of acorns after class, all gently extracted from Enzo. After class, we went home to meet Alex.
After dropping Enzo off for Alex back home, Zoe and I went out on a lunch date across town to get highbrow pizzas and a glass of prosecco. We came home to find Enzo in a fine mood. After a quick snack, we watched some of the ocean episode of Planet Earth, and then took a walk. We were supposed to meet Katie and the boys for dinner but Enzo seemed to be having some GI issues and seemed like his teeth were bothering him, plus - no nap! so we chickened out.
Enzo had a small dinner, and then played with trains. He got upset (very tired) before bath, but then settled down with his evening bottle. We had fun reading and playing with him before bed. When Zoe took a quick shower, he stood knocking on the bathroom door saying, "ma ma ma ma ma". Such a sweet and smart bug.
