so very close

Enzo and I went to Peets for breakfast after playing with the dogs. Enzo ate his egg sausage cheese bagel and fruit, and then ran crazy around the grounds. Lots of comments on how insanely cute he was this morning in his dragon sweatshirt. After breakfast, we stopped by the grocery store because daddy forgot fruit for school, and then we went to Borders to kill some time. Enzo sat and read books and then ran around grabbing books and toys off the shelves. I bought him the Mo Willems Elephant & Piggie books which he really seemed to like, especially There Is A Bird On Your Head!

I drove Enzo around a bit so he could get a nippy nap in before school. He woke up just in time and was in a great mood. He had his best day at school so far today. Playing with other kids, interacting with other adults, and only got anxious about getting outside at the very very end of open play time.

I brought him outside and gave him a tug off the bottle, and then he was fine. Everyone came outside right behind us, and then it was time for snack. He loved washing his hands today. I asked the teacher to not give Enzo a glass of water today, so he could focus on eating rather than playing with his water. It worked, and he sat quietly munching away. He did get up a couple times, but went back to his chair on his own. He followed everyone back into the tent for closing circle, and had fun singing songs to end the day.

Nanny Note: We went to Grandma Jeans and then went to Gymboree to play.

Well, I promised Zoe that Enzo wouldn't have a scratch on him when she got back, and I came so close. But after dinner, and after a poop in the potty, Enzo walked out of the bathroom half naked and stumbled over his own feet. He got his hands out to block the fall, but not quite in time. Somehow he managed to hit his face on his hand giving himself a fat lip and a scratch on the cheek. The bath was already running upstairs. I was literally one step behind him and one second away from scooping him up to go upstairs for bath. Still can't believe it.

He cried for about 30 seconds, stopping when I broke out a popsicle for him to chew on. It's the only way to get ice on a fat lip.

He was fine during bath. We played the jumping frog game. And then he happily slurped down his bottle and went straight to bed at about 8:PM.
