house

Enzo was up at his usual 6:30AM. We just hung around the house this morning — playing, reading, and eating cereal. I took Enzo and the girls for a walk, while mommy got ready for work. We got back in time to say "bye bye". Right after mommy left, we took a short trike ride down the block and back.

Nanny Note: We read books till about 10, watched Planet earth, then we walked around the neighborhood for about an hour. Before nap, we read more books and watched Good Night Gorilla. After nap we had a snack then we went to visit Grandma Jean.

Enzo was playing in the dirt in the front yard with Alex when I got home this evening. Zoe is on call tonight, so Enzo and I got some dinner together. His on-call dinners are usually pretty random, and tonight was no exception. Bologna, rice, edamame, and pears. And a cookie. He actually did OK, and didn't beg for a "pop" tonight.

After dinner, we assembled Enzo's new cardboard playhouse. He really enjoyed it. We both sat inside for a long time, commenting on how "dark" it was inside, that the doors and windows were "closed", and discussing the similarities between a "house" and a "tunnoh". Betty and Harriet both spent some time inside there too, not necessarily by their own choosing. Enzo chased Betty out of the house yelling "down". And he kept chasing her around the living room, laughing and screeching the whole time.

After the house, we briefly watched some "fisch" and "turdle" on Planet Earth. We took a nice long bath, and then read some books, including Madeline, of course, and an old standby Blankie ("blankt").

We played with his little bugs, reptiles, and dinosaurs. At several of the schools I toured, they used these little animals to teach kids about diversity and taxonomic similarities. Mixing all the critters up, and asking the kids to sort them into piles of similar animals.

We also played a brief game of fake owie on mommy's bed. After I brushed his teeth, he gave me big kiss, and curled up his crib, ready for "night night".
