poor kitten

Enzo woke up in a chipper mood and we had our usual morning. We had donuts on the brain when we woke up, so we made the trek out to Krispy Kreme and had the neighbors over to help us eat them. Enzo really enjoyed his donut. It was hot, hot, hot today and he had fun out back with the dogs and the hose and his pool for most of the morning.

We met the Pfleegers at Pfleeger bakery for lunch and Enzo liked his soba noodles. He has been imitating Wes a lot lately, asking, "what IS that" about everything (saying it just like she does). After lunch we headed back home and watched a little rat movie and some books before he went down for another almost 2 hour nap. The last book we read to him before he went down for his nap was "Kitten's First Full Moon", a book we had read to him a hundred times before (although he hasn't looked at it in a couple of months). This time, though, when we got to the part where the kitten falls into the pond, Enzo burst into tears and we had to reassure him that the kitten was okay and made it out of the pond safe and sound to get a bowl of milk at home. This book was the first thing he asked for when he woke up again - he wanted to make sure again that the kitten was ok.

When he woke up he was in a great mood again, and spent a long time in the pool with the dogs again, until he was chased out by some bold bees. We went for a walk then had dinner, then went out to the park after dinner. He ran around a lot after dinner, rolling down the hill and playing hide and go seek with mommy. We stopped for an ice cream cone and a peek into the fire station window before we went home.

When we got home he had a bath, the books, then bed. He was sweet and funny and full of mischief all day today. We are really looking forward to taking him to Monterey aquarium this week!
