rocks and geese

We started our morning at the Ferry Building market. Unbelievably, we ran into Hadley and Corky who were in SF for the weekend. We picked up some food for a picnic, and then headed off to the Golden Gate park to explore.

It was windy and freezing at the park where the picnic table were, and Enzo was not about to sit still and eat when there were so many things to see. So we left our stuff in the truck and went for a long walk around the lake. We saw ducks, geese with goslings, gulls, and turtles. And flowers. Lots of flowers. Along the way, Enzo picked up some rocks to throw in the water. When he said he wanted to throw rocks at the geese, Zoe had a long talk with him about throwing rocks. She made him say, "no throwing rocks at geese". For some reason, that really hit home with him, and became his mantra for the rest of our trip. In fact, we think it turned out to be the main thing he took away from the entire vacation. Ask him about the trip, he won't say, aquarium or airplane or ocean. He'll say, "no throwing rock at geese"

We stopped by the hotel to change and then drove across the bridge to Oakland to get dinner at Chez Panisse with Chris and Kala. We left Enzo at their house with Betty, Sophie's nanny. We were nervous that Enzo would get upset that we left him there, but he was fine of course, and we had a nice relaxing dinner.

We didn't even bother trying to put Enzo in the crib tonight. Another enduring an hour of thrashing around, he fell asleep at about 11:PM.
