fireworks

We had a great 4th with Enzo today. We snuggled in his bed with him first thing this morning, and then just bombed around the house in the AM. He ate fruit and sausage for breakfast, and then tossed his cheese puffs in the air for Betty to catch. Sometimes she does a flip and lands on her back which sends Enzo into a fit of laughter. For some reason, he stopped to tell us about some of his paintings that have been taped to the wall for months. "Enzo made those. I make beautiful things." He also mentioned that he loves ice cream every day.

We played in the pool out front for a while. Enzo has one hose and and I have another to fill it up. If he sprays the hose toward us, I spray him back. "No daddy, don't do that!!" Again and again, I sprayed the hose up in the air to make it rain on him. He couldn't quite figure out where the rain was coming from. We had a nice ichat with little cousin Sophie in Bermuda, who is so cute. Interestingly, she looks quite a bit like Enzo now even though neither of us look anything like Sophie's parents.

Putting him down for his nap today was a bit of a struggle. He's still not very secure in his new bed. But once he finally fell asleep, he had a good nap.

We went to Gabeluke's for dinner. Betty and Harriet went bananas the entire time, jumping in and out of the kiddie pool, turning it into a mud puddle. Didn't stop the boys from playing, or stop Luke from taking a few sips. Enzo played with a big firetruck we bought Luke for his birthday a few weeks ago. I see one in Enzo's near future. The boys all ate a big dinner and then we made shave ice, which was a big hit. Each time we go up to the Metcalf's the boys interact and talk and play with each other a little bit more. It's really interesting and fun to see them playing on their own, sharing, struggling, and working stuff out.

We raced home, threw Enzo in the bath. He pooped in the bathtub for the first, and hopefully, last time. We just didn't make it to the potty in time, and it made mommy scream. We then headed down the street to the Colorado bridge to see the Rose Bowl fireworks. We thought there'd be a few people on the bridge watching. Instead it was a total madhouse, street shut down, and few thousand people there. The firework weren't scheduled to start until 9PM, an hour after Enzo's bed time, and they didn't start until about 9:15 or so. Enzo was getting antsy and tired so we only stayed for about five more minutes once the fireworks started. He was excited, but we made our escape before he got too tired.

Straight to bed when we got back. Asleep at about 10PM!
