A great weekend with Enzo. On Saturday, we got out of the house early and went to the aquarium in Long Beach. As we were pulling into the parking lot, Enzo said "Going to see the manta rays. They're my buddies. Haven't seen them in a long time." He ran straight through the first floor exhibits to get to the shark and ray touch tank. We spent about 30 minutes there manhandling elasmobranchs before heading up the the second level to poke anemones and starfish.
We stopped in front of the otter tank for an snack and juice box, and the rush of sugar made Enzo crazy. He was running all around yelling "weehooo!" trying to find the Nemo tank. He got a blue whale and a diverman in the gift shop and played with them all the way home.
He didn't take a nap, so after a bite to eat, we went out to the Lego store to buy some birthday presents for his friends. So of course we picked up a few things for Enzer too. He already has some of the big baby Legos, but we got him some regular small Legos. He loved them, and we sat playing for an hour at the dinner table. Mommy and Enzo made up a song about how slow daddy built a lego dump truck.
Today, we had two birthday parties - one for Chloe a friend of his from Waldorf School, and another for Gabe. Enzo had fun at Chloes house exploring the new territory, and seeing some friends he hasnt seen recently. At Gabe's, Enzo bounced in the castle and helped knock down a pinata. The fire department stopped by with a big truck too. The fireman ate lunch and then let the kids climb in the truck. When I finally put Enzo in the truck (after 30 minutes of asking me too), he said "there you go!"
Back for another failed nap, and then to the Whole Foods. I noticed Enzo could barely keep his head up, so I carried him. He put his head on my shoulder, and slept for about 30 minutes as we shopped. He was super duper grouchy when I woke him up back at the car, but quickly snapped out of it.
We spent the rest of the day playing with little Legos and walking around the neighborhood. Enzo bumped in to Wes and then later, William. Enzo ate a huge plate of mommy's pasta, and then we played with legos. Remarkably, someone reported a fire in our neighborhood, and a huge firetruck parked right in front of our house. Enzo couldnt believe it, and I'm sure thought they came by to say hi to him. There was no fire, so Enzo went out to get a sticker badge and some high fives. They got a call as we were talking to them, so they jumped in the truck, flipped on the lights and siren and sped off right in front of us. Blew Enzo's mind.
Not surprisingly, it was a little bit of a struggle getting him to sleep tonight. But once he finally decided he was ready to sleep, he was out within a minute.
